The combined standard uncertainty is determined following the GUM “Guidelines for Uncertainty Measurements”, NIST SOP 29 “ Standard Operating Procedure for the Assignment of Uncertainty” and NIST Technical Note 1297 “Guidelines for Evaluating and Expressing the Uncertainty of NIST Measurements Results”. The combined uncertainty is multiplied by a coverage factor, k, which equals 2 and provides a level of confidence of approximately 95%.
